In the centre of Lofoten, 15 minutes drive from the municipality centre Leknes, you find Haukland Beach. With just a handful inhabitants, sourunding farmland and towering mountains it is one of Norways motst iconic spots to visit.
Mid March 2025 the new Vicitors Centre will open. This will be an year-around open facility that offers services for visitors to the area.
Ole Kristian is the Manging Director of Hauklandstranda AS wich is in charge of the centre and the visitors management at Haukland Beach. He, his wife Katrine and their kids, constitutes half of the permanent residents in the tiny village of Haukland.
Haukland Beach is a governmental protected recreational area and Vestvågøy Municpiality Administration is the responsible entity. It is possible to stay over night in tents, but the facilitation is in general for day visits to the beach or for hiking. Hauklandstranda AS (Ltd.) is the operating company, wholly ownd by the municipality.
Haukland Beach recreational are is not a camping site. It is however allowed to put up your hiking tent at the dedicated location. This is regulated by local law.
